Handcrafted from start to finish by an artisan at our workshop in Chiba, Japan.
RYUZU HAMMERED A distinctive finish, one hammer strike at a time.
RYUZU carries on a traditional Japanese silversmithing technique. Each piece is shaped with a hammer that leaves a pattern of individual impressions in the metal.
The Japanese term for this finish can be written 槌目 or 鎚目. RYUZU uses 鎚目, written with the character for a metal hammer, to reflect how each mark is made.
The hammer marks are more than decoration. Light and shadow shift with the viewing angle, giving the simple band depth and character.
Each ring is hammered by hand, so the pattern varies from piece to piece.
Traditional craft for everyday wear
RYUZU brings techniques passed down through silversmithing into jewelry designed for everyday wear. Our approach is to keep those traditions evolving through the pieces we make.
